About The Position

As a Nuclear Technologist, you will prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment. This position is a clinical position.

Requirements

  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology RT(N)
  • State License
  • ARRT Registration or NMTCB required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment, under the direction of a physician.
  • Use the specific equipment needed to produce photographic or computer images to be interpreted by the physician.
  • Perform cardiac scanning to check for areas showing signs of abnormality using SPECT and PET imaging.
  • Conduct patient history taking and answering all relevant queries before the procedure.
  • Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received.
  • Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment and cameras.
  • Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
  • Dispose of radioactive materials following guidelines.
  • Record and process studies using computer/camera.
  • Explain test procedures and safety precautions to the patients and provide them with assistance during the test procedures.
  • Develop treatment procedures for nuclear medicine treatment programs.
  • Maintain all records and assist with accreditation of the department.
