About The Position

The Nuclear Systems Engineer (or Mechanical Engineer – BOP) is responsible for providing technical leadership for the site through optimization and reliability of station systems and equipment, proactive identification and resolution of plant issues, and technical assistance to the Operations and Maintenance departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience demonstrating success at the Engineer or Technical Specialist level
  • All experience levels considered
  • Nuclear power plant experience is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard PC applications
  • Ability to effectively support operations, maintenance, and engineering activities in a nuclear plant environment

Nice To Haves

  • SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred

Responsibilities

  • System ownership / engagement / advocacy / prioritization for deficiency resolution leading to high levels of equipment reliability.
  • Monitors performance, trending, and system walk downs for assigned systems.
  • Uses and shares Industry Operating Experience.
  • Develops system strategic long-range and life-cycle management plans and assists with prioritization, planning, and scheduling of reliability activities for assigned systems.
  • Assists with establishing and prioritizing action plans to address deficiencies on assigned systems via the corrective action and work management processes.
  • Interfaces with Maintenance and Operations for cost effective maintenance strategies on assigned systems.
  • Supports Maintenance and Operations in system troubleshooting and provides troubleshooting expertise for significant events or complex plant problems.
  • Supports changes in assigned system configuration and design.
  • Helps develop engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
  • Advocates appropriate outage work scope prioritization and PM implementation for improving system reliability.
  • Participates in project teams for critical on-line system outages or refueling outages.
  • Serves on outage engineering support teams as assigned.
  • Attends training and maintains qualifications necessary to perform required group functions.
  • Maintains system related information in a manner that readily supports turnover.
