About The Position

Design Engineering Cyber Security is responsible for ensuring controls required by NEI 08-09 are implemented for digital systems and components at Cook Nuclear Plant. Responsible for moderate-scale security assignments with limited direction from senior team members. Develops and maintains necessary documentation of security systems, projects, and/or processes to ensure unified understanding of system details. Participates in the review, evaluation, and recommendation of emerging security technologies. Assists in gathering, investigating, and analyzing security requirements, processes, and incidents. Demonstrates problem solving, decision-making, and functional area knowledge. Participates in security projects/initiatives; directs security assignments. Administer and maintain an Advanced Information Management (AIM) Security Computer System that guards and controls access to a Nuclear Power Plant. Requirements

  • Good working knowledge and skills of the following, but not limited to:
  • Windows Operating Systems

  • Experience working on Operational Technology (OT) devices
  • Nuclear Security Specialist/ Salary Grade 6 ($74,551 - $93,188): Bachelor's degree or associate degree with one-year relevant experience in system administration/help desk/security (cyber) OR graduation from an approved Cybersecurity Program; alternatively, may have non-degree qualifications (such as hands-on demonstrated ability in a technical interview/assessment). No additional experience required in addition to experience identified above. OR High School Diploma/GED with 2 years relevant experience in IT system administration/help desk/security (cyber) . Some travel and overtime may be required. This position could be required to do shift work or be "On call" 24x7x365.
  • Nuclear Security Specialist Sr/ Salary Grade 7 ( $87,633 -$109,544): Education: Bachelor’s degree or associate degree with 2 years relevant experience in system administration/help desk/security OR High School Diploma/GED with 3 years relevant experience in IT system administration/help desk/security OR graduation from an approved Cybersecurity Program; alternatively, may have non-degree qualifications (such as hands-on demonstrated ability in a technical interview/assessment). Experience: 2 or more years of Information Technology related experience; OR 1 or more years Licenses/Certifications: CISSP or other Security certification helpful. Some travel and overtime (OT) may be required.
  • Nuclear Security Specialist Principal/ Salary Grade 8 ($98,993 - $128,689): Education: Bachelor’s degree or associate degree with 2 years relevant experience in system administration/help desk/security OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years relevant experience in IT system administration/help desk/security OR graduation from an approved Cybersecurity Program; alternatively, may have non-degree qualifications (such as hands-on demonstrated ability in a technical interview/assessment). Experience: 4 or more years of Information Technology related experience.
  • Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant.

Nice To Haves

  • CISSP or other Security certification preferred
  • Knowledge of the following is preferred but not required:
  • Technical Writing
  • Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) specifically Section 10 CFR 73.54
  • Familiar with NEI 08-09 and NEI 13-10
  • NERC-CIP compliance
  • Linux operating system knowledge
  • Licenses/Certifications: CISSP and GCIH or other Security certification helpful but not required. Technical Cyber Security certifications preferred, such as SANS GIAC, CISSP, EC-Council CEH, CompTIA Security+ but not required.
  • CompTIA® A+ or equivalent for basic computer repair is preferred but not required.

  • Develop and present documents and reports clearly, concisely, and effectively.
  • Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to security problems that involve analysis of inadequate or conflicting data.
  • Maintains an awareness of time constraints for work activities; makes appropriate adjustments when needed.
  • Manages time and resources efficiently to accommodate multiple assignments.
  • Travel /OT may be required.
  • Establishes recommendations based on options presented.
  • Performance of duties may involve work in hazardous areas and radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the NRC.
