About The Position

Ready to experience how large-scale engineering and construction projects come to life? As Nuclear Safety Intern at Centrus Energy, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to the planning and execution of complex infrastructure and plant projects that support advanced uranium enrichment and facility operations. Working alongside experienced nuclear safety engineers and project teams, you’ll see how nuclear safety considerations are incorporated into engineering design, procurement coordination, and construction planning come together to deliver mission-critical projects. This internship provides a unique opportunity to understand the full lifecycle of major capital projects while building technical and professional skills that will accelerate your engineering career.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s or graduate program in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering, or a related field
  • Interest in large-scale engineering projects, construction, or industrial facility operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and contribute in a collaborative technical environment
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Completion of at least one year of college-level coursework in an engineering, or related program
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, or PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting
  • Must be able to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be able to pass vetting to ensure Centrus Energy can meet the requirements of 10 CFR Parts 810 and 1017 to grant access to export-controlled information and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information, respectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers and project managers with drafting and reviewing calculations and evaluations.
  • Review design documents.
  • Support technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with operations teams.
  • Analyze engineering data.
  • Review drawings and specifications.
  • Assist with project reporting.
  • Participate in design, safety, and project coordination meetings.
  • Present key contributions and lessons learned to the team at the end of the summer.
