About The Position

This role involves performing routine calculations under the mentorship of a manager or more senior engineers. The Nuclear Safety Engineer will also prepare documentation, verify design evaluations, interface with customers and vendors, and develop skills for more independent assignments. Additionally, the role includes identifying process improvements, developing new business opportunities, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical)
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Coding experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Mathcad, C++, Fortran, and Visual Basic.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in dispersion modeling and severe accident modeling and analysis.
  • Thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, specifically with RELAP.
  • Experience in facility hazard modeling and analysis, and equipment qualification.
  • Laboratory experience with custom experiments is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations related to nuclear safety, fluid flow, probability risk assessment, equipment qualification, heat and mass transfer, by manager
  • Prepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analyses
  • Verify routine design evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified.
  • Interface on a limited basis with customers, vendors, and other teams on engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments
  • Obtain results to routine technical problems
  • Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the strategic initiatives
  • Identify and recommend improvements in processes on continuing basis and support implementation and identify and help develop new business opportunities.
  • Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirements
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks
