About The Position

ANSER is seeking a Nuclear Safety and Security Analyst to provide support to the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters (ODASD/NM) on Nuclear Surety and Exercise Programs. In this role, you will assist in reviewing and updating the nuclear weapon systems surety program and incorporating modifications to OSD policies and procedures to defend against an evolving threat environment.

Requirements

  • Possess an active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs/relations, security studies, or similar related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the nuclear enterprise.
  • Experience drafting technically oriented documents for senior policy decision makers on highly classified and complex scientific, engineering, and technical topics and subjects.
  • Excellent writing skills and in-depth knowledge of editorial principles and techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD)/Joint Staff/Service Staff/Interagency environment.
  • Knowledge of nuclear weapons systems and operations, nuclear weapons physical security and safety expertise, and/or international nuclear cooperation programs expertise.
  • Experience in intelligence analysis and coordination with entities across the Intelligence Community (e.g., DIA, DOE-IN, FBI).
  • Experience with, NATO nuclear security policy and international partner engagement forums (e.g., JTSMG).

Responsibilities

  • Support intelligence community (IC) coordination to shape and refine threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments.
  • Actively engage with IC partners (e.g., DIA, DOE-IN, FBI) to develop/guide Key Intelligence Questions (KIQs), conduct analysis on emerging threats, and ensure intelligence products meet KIQ needs.
  • Provide support and assistance to policy reviews and interpretations in response to Military Departments’ requests for clarification of OSD policies and procedures.
  • Assist in reviews of safety studies and assessments.
  • Support and assist in evaluating, coordinating, and supporting USD(A&S) approval of Military Departments’ Weapon System Safety Rules.
  • Represent OSD policy and equities in international forums, such as the NATO Joint Theatre Surety Management Group (JTSMG).
  • Coordinate with international partners, Combatant Commands (e.g., EUCOM), and Service components revising local nuclear security policy to align with OSD requirements, advise on emerging threats (e.g., c-UAS), and operational requirements.
  • Support senior OSD leadership (A/DASD level) by preparing decision memos, read-ahead packages, talking points, and weekly activity reports for high-level engagements with the IC, interagency, and international partners.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
