Electric Motor & Contracting Company, Inc., founded in 1960, is one of the largest independently owned repair facilities for electrical rotating machinery, pumps, and switchgear in the United States. We are conveniently located in Hampton Roads, Virginia just miles from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. We are currently seeking a Nuclear Pump Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact professionally is mandatory
  • Minimum 2 years working in mechanical manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with manufacturing and machine shop environment
  • Must be proficient with MS Word & Excel (will be assessed during interview process)
  • Must be familiar with an industrial safety environment
  • High mechanical aptitude is required
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings/technical data is required
  • Possess a positive team player attitude and overall motivation to succeed
  • This position requires drug and background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pumps preferred
  • BS in Engineering or similar is preferred
  • Background in Nuclear Power Generation field is preferred
  • Specifically, familiarity with Radiological Contamination, Safety Related equipment designation and controls, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of in-shop pump repair process including:
  • Abide by all company safety & regulatory policies at all times
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customer correspondence related to jobs you are managing
  • Responsible for creating and managing job budget and schedule
  • Review equipment specific Technical Manuals for repair considerations
  • Generate and maintain electronic and hardcopy paperwork for Non-Safety Related and Safety Related Pump Repairs
  • Generate pump repair quotations (“As-Found Condition Reports”) and submit to customer for approval
  • Generate “Production Plans” to guide floor personnel through the entire repair process based on technical evaluation and schedule
  • Maintain Schedule and upkeep of project status using Smartsheet and provide updates
  • Coordinate with other Department/Project Managers when shared company resources are required to complete repairs
  • Procure all job-related replacement parts and materials
  • Attend internal bi-weekly production meetings with key shop personnel
  • On rare occasions, travel to customer site to review or update critical project status
  • Obtain and maintain Radiological Qualifications to allow access to Radiological Controlled and Contaminated Areas
  • Carry out on-time delivery of all associated tasks
  • Always Maintain consistent accessibility to Department Manager/Shop personnel/Sales team/Customer (off-hour access to phone and email is expected)
