About The Position

This position supports the planning and budgeting activities for the O&M and Capital resource allocation process. It involves long-range forecasts, detail budgets, re-projections, and contingency plans. The role prepares monthly/quarterly variance reports with analysis of drivers, and ad-hoc reports as needed. It supports decisions affecting operation and maintenance, capital investment, customer service levels, and profitability. The role also engages in developing and improving standardized processes for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and improvement requisitions. Special studies, analysis, investigations, and assignments may be required. The role leads the administration of the annual strategic planning process, developing and recommending business plans with scheduling, resource, and cost information, measurable goals, objectives, and action plans. It ensures expenses are appropriately accrued and recorded in compliance with Company policies, FERC, GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley principles, researching trends and variances to resolve issues. Additionally, it performs competitive cost analysis, compares business unit performance to industry and company projections, and recommends enhancements to business processes. The role develops, reviews, or prepares reports on complex business strategies for presentation to senior management, professional societies, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or other business-related field from an accredited university or institution along with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Or, Associate’s degree in business, finance or other business-related field from an accredited university or institution along with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a business environment conducting strategic planning, modeling, and financial analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or other related business-related field from an accredited university or institution.
  • Five years' experience in a regulated business environment conducting strategic planning, modeling and financial analysis.
  • Strong experience with database reporting.
  • Experience in month end closing processes, Capital/O&M determinations, retirement units and performance indicators.
  • Exposure to regulated revenue environment and FERC accounting regulations.
  • Ability to produce ad hoc reports using database reporting tools.
  • Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as needed to support analysis.
  • Support decisions affecting operation and maintenance activities, capital investment, customer service levels, and profitability objectives.
  • Engage in developing and improving standardized processes surrounding budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and improvement requisitions.
  • Perform special studies, analysis, investigations, and assignments as may be required.
  • Lead with the administration of the annual strategic planning process and develop, recommend and implement business plans that include all scheduling, resource and cost information, measurable goals, objectives, action plans and other requirements.
  • Ensure expenses are appropriately accrued/recorded ensuring compliance with Company policies, FERC, GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley principles. Research trends and variances and communicate with appropriate staff to resolve issues.
  • Perform competitive cost analysis, compare business unit performance to industry and company projections and estimates, and recommend enhancements to business processes as they relate to improving the business environment.
  • Develop, review or prepare reports on complex business strategies in a manner suitable for presentation to senior management, professional societies, regulatory bodies, etc.
