About The Position

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Operations Shift Supervisor to join their Fuel Fabrication & Nuclear Material Management Division team. This role is crucial for leading and driving transformative research and development in nuclear innovation, focusing on operational excellence in mission-critical environments that shape the future of energy, national security, and technology. The team operates on a 4x10 schedule with Fridays off, located at the Materials and Fuels Complex.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree and 2 years direct operation experience in fuel fabrication or nuclear operations, OR 8+ years’ operations experience in fuel fabrication or nuclear operations.
• Must have direct experience leading small groups.
• 2+ years demonstrated leadership experience.
• Must have operating experience working within Fuel Fabrication/Manufacturing & Nuclear Material Management and leadership experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Manage activities of a broad functional area through non-exempt and exempt specialists, providing direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
• Manage, train, and motivate staff to meet unit targets and goals, potentially managing more than one shift or department and subordinate managers.
• Receive assignments based on incremental objectives and defined processes.
• Monitor and coordinate daily, weekly, or monthly activities, developing operational enhancements and maintaining internal control.
• Help develop overall goals and long-term goals of the department, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Recommend changes to policies, identify and resolve escalated problems of moderate to large scope, work with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups, and gain cooperation of others through presentations of technical information.
• Recommend changes to sub-unit, unit, or discipline policies.
• Identify, troubleshoot, or resolve escalated problems, working on issues of moderate to large scope/complexity.
• Work with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups, interpreting and explaining information to audiences familiar with the subject.
• Gain cooperation of others.
