About The Position

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist conducts nuclear medicine procedures using imaging equipment and radioactive materials to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Responsible for radiation safety and quality control procedures, and delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of approved Nuclear Medicine Program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R).
  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PAC’s systems
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association
  • CNMT - Certified Nuclear Medical Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical nuclear medicine department preferred
  • May require travel between Jefferson sites

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic imaging examinations and dynamic tests, such as radionuclide angiocardiography and coronary artery imaging studies.
  • Prepares and administers radioactive agents by adhering to established procedures kit preparation as well as IV injection of agents to ensure accurate diagnostic testing/imaging.
  • Sets up equipment and appropriately positions patient to ensure adherence to protocol, cooperation and optimal results.
  • Maintains daily log of radionuclide doses administered to patients, as well as record of tests performed, diagnosis and any other pertinent information. Maintains all records required by State and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations.
  • Calibrates and checks all applicable equipment; maintains equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and documents results; contacts service personnel and notifies supervision of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection during the imaging process.
  • Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position
  • Other duties as assigned.
