About The Position

Under the direction of the department supervisor, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist will oversee the daily flow of patients through the department and coordinate daily exam assignments. This role performs nuclear medicine procedures at a technical level requiring minimal supervision of technical detail. The technologist will perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation and other forms of energy. The role assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. The technologist is responsible for all records and charting of information related to individual cases. They will collect patient histories and other related information, coordinating and communicating with the radiologist and all others as needed. The technologist will follow department protocols and produce quality images for each exam, provide immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards, and continuously monitor the patient through the exam. The role will also assist the Radiologist with exams when necessary and with invasive procedures, and effectively use the EPIC system. Additionally, the technologist will assist physicians in the performance of Nuclear and PET examinations by preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a radiologist.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma
  • CNMT and/or ARRT(N), and BLS
  • Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy required
