About The Position

Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and applicable regulatory standards to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures and completes required quality control activities to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of imaging equipment. Provides patient-centered care while collaborating with radiologists, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support high-quality clinical outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMTCB).
  • Must possess a valid current Nuclear Medicine license/certificate. This will be either an RT(N) registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or CNMT certification through the Society of Nuclear Medicine Technical Section Board examination.
  • Must maintain registry status in compliance with the CE requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Certification or re-certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
  • Prepares, measures, and administers prescribed radiopharmaceuticals
  • Operates Nuclear Medicine equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assists radiologists with invasive procedures as required.
  • Processes acquired image data and evaluates images for technical quality prior to physician interpretation.
  • Monitors patients during procedures and reports unusual occurrences or adverse events promptly to appropriate personnel.
  • Explains procedures, preparation, and aftercare instructions to patients to ensure understanding and comfort.
  • Communicates exam-related information, as directed by the radiologist, to physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team.
  • Performs and documents required quality control procedures on gamma cameras, dose calibrators, uptake probes, and well counters.
  • Maintains accurate logs related to radiopharmaceutical receipt, storage, administration, disposal, shipments, and required wipe testing in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Adheres to departmental policies related to quality assurance, radiation safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and radiation-safe work environment, ensuring equipment and work areas are free from contamination.
  • May be required to perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) based on departmental needs.
