This PRN (as needed) position for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist involves 8-hour shifts with varying start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM, based on department needs. The technologist will work under the direction of the department supervisor, overseeing patient flow and coordinating daily exam assignments. The role requires performing nuclear medicine procedures at a technical level with minimal supervision, utilizing independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation and other forms of energy. Responsibilities include assuming charge of designated areas or procedures, maintaining all records and charting for individual cases, collecting patient histories, and coordinating communication with radiologists and other staff. The technologist must adhere to department protocols, produce quality images, provide patient immobilization and protection according to safety standards, and continuously monitor patients during exams. Assistance to radiologists during exams and invasive procedures is also required, along with effective use of the EPIC system. The technologist will assist physicians in Nuclear and PET examinations by preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals under the radiologist's direction.
