About The Position

The Staff Pad has partnered with a reputed hospital in Manchester; TN and we are looking to hire a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join the hospital’s growing Radiology team. In this role, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of technical nuclear medicine procedures with minimal supervision while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and diagnostic accuracy. Reporting to the Director of Radiology, The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for daily quality control of equipment and radiopharmaceuticals and supports Radiologists and Cardiologists through the timely and accurate performance of nuclear medicine procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Current Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) certification required
  • Maintain all continuing education requirements to keep licensure and registration current
  • Working knowledge of nuclear medicine practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient identity and review orders for consistency (examination ordered and clinical diagnosis)
  • Prioritize patient care needs, including critical cases, while carrying out physician orders effectively
  • Deliver age -appropriate care across all patient populations, from infants to geriatrics
  • Provide safe patient transport and transfer care
  • Notify patient care units of high -dose radionuclide administrations
  • Promote positive patient, physician, and customer relations
  • Program, adjust and perform operational checks on Nuclear Medicine equipment
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy and present the completed examination to the Radiologist or Cardiologist, and care team following the procedure
  • Maintain knowledge of radionuclide isotopes used in the department
  • Operate survey instruments for measurement and detection of radiopharmaceuticals
  • Coordinate with Imaging departments to minimize patient wait and scan times
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms between patients
  • Safely order, administer, handle, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols ensuring patient and staff safety while maintaining inventory, administration and disposal records
  • Follow accident and isotope spill reporting procedures
  • Conduct Radiation Safety meetings and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements related to radiation and isotope safety, and waste management
  • Manage time effectively around isotope deliveries
  • Maintain familiarity with departmental operations and organizational functions
  • Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Work independently while following written and verbal instructions
  • Establish and work toward measurable annual goals and objectives
  • Maintain reliable contact availability as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
