Performs and analyzes all diagnostic Nuclear Medicine Procedures in an ambulatory setting. Ensures adherence to all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by state, federal, and local agencies. Provides excellent patient care and practices radiation safety standards at all times. Conducts general Nuclear Medicine imaging of patients, within the scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician, including patient positioning for correct anatomy/pathology demonstration. Competent in the preparation, dose management, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and radioisotopes, operation of radiation-producing equipment and electronic radiology systems, preparation of patient rooms and equipment, patient and family education, and maintaining adequate supply inventory. Explains examination procedures and discharge instructions to patients and completes departmental documentation. Complies with all radioactive activity monitoring and documentation. Intravenous (IV) Competency is required.
