About The Position

Houston Cardiovascular Associates is adding to the team and in search of a PRN Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Houston, TX. This role involves explaining procedures to patients, preparing and administering radiopharmaceutical materials, performing diagnostic exams including Cardiac PET studies, and measuring radioactivity. The technologist will follow radiation safety techniques, maintain equipment quality control, and safeguard patient privacy. The position requires excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a busy private cardiology practice.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology
  • Must be registered with ARRT or NMTCB
  • 2 years of experience
  • BLS/CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Explains procedure to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results
  • Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculate doses, and administers doses, under direction of Physician
  • Performs diagnostic exams including Cardiac PET studies on patients as prescribed by physician, including treadmill supervision and starting IVs.
  • Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors
  • Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials
  • Maintains quality control of all equipment
  • Safeguard the privacy of patient health information
  • Attends required meetings
  • Performs related work as required
