About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine and PET/CT imaging procedures in an outpatient imaging environment. This position is responsible for safely preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating imaging equipment, ensuring exceptional patient care, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and radiation safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to providing an outstanding patient experience while producing high-quality diagnostic images.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Current ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification.
  • Current state licensure (if required by state regulations).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with PACS, EMR, and nuclear medicine imaging equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine and PET/CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
  • Verify patient identity, obtain relevant medical history, explain procedures, and address patient concerns.
  • Position patients appropriately to obtain optimal diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Evaluate image quality and perform additional imaging when necessary.
  • Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment according to manufacturer and facility guidelines.
  • Follow ALARA principles and all radiation safety policies for patients, staff, and the public.
  • Monitor and document radiopharmaceutical inventory, storage, disposal, and quality control activities.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality assurance testing on imaging equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists, referring physicians, schedulers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
  • Assist with maintaining accreditation standards, regulatory compliance, and inspection readiness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
