Under the remote supervision of the Manager, and working with the team, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares, dispenses, and administers radiopharmaceuticals to perform more than 70 nuclear medicine diagnostic procedures and therapies, effectively, efficiently, professionally, and ethically. Within this diverse scope is the ongoing quality assurance of radiopharmaceuticals, imaging equipment, and documentation maintenance required by hospital accreditation, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and Health Canada. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is expected to adapt procedures and perform complex computer manipulations and analysis while providing a high standard of health care to the client. On a rotating basis, they are required to independently perform on-call/emergency procedures outside of department hours for presentation to the nuclear medicine physician.
