About The Position
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist plays a critical role in the healthcare team by performing specialized imaging procedures that utilize radioactive materials to diagnose and treat various medical conditions. The technologist must adhere strictly to radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and themselves from unnecessary exposure. Additionally, the role involves maintaining detailed patient records, calibrating and troubleshooting imaging equipment, and collaborating closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or equivalent credential.
- Experience operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment and performing diagnostic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and CT scanners, to capture diagnostic images.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety and comfort, and respond promptly to any adverse reactions.
- Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self, including proper handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Document patient information, procedure details, and imaging results accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review imaging results and assist in diagnostic processes.
- Stay current with advances in nuclear medicine technology and best practices through ongoing education and training.
