This position is for a Per Diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist (FGP) in Rego Park, Multispecialty.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) recognized nuclear medicine technology program.
  • Eligible to take certification exam in Nuclear Medicine by either the NMTCB or ARRT.
  • New York State License (Nuclear Medicine) required.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Bachelors Degree or baccalaureate degree in nuclear medicine technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures under general direction.
  • Operates hospital and radiology information systems (HIS/RIS) related to nuclear medicine, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Assesses patient information and status, identifies correct patients, and verifies requisitions.
  • Explains procedures and equipment to patients, obtains consent, and ensures patient comfort and privacy.
  • Prepares radiopharmaceutical doses, calculates dosages, and verifies radioactivity.
  • Positions patients and equipment, performs imaging, archives data, and analyzes acquired data.
  • Solves technical problems during examinations and alters procedures as needed based on patient condition.
  • Assists physicians, completes examinations efficiently, and generates hard copies of images.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the procedure area and prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Recognizes and responds to medical emergencies.
  • Implements non-imaging procedures according to departmental protocols.
  • Collects and processes body fluid specimens for in-vivo and in-vitro procedures.
  • Prepares doses and standards in the radiopharmacy, performs wipe tests, and monitors radioactive shipments.
  • Disposes of radioactive waste according to policies and procedures, and follows radiation protection protocols.
  • Performs routine imaging system evaluations and quality control procedures.
  • Maintains records for quality control, dose preparation, administration, and waste disposal.
  • Executes equipment set-up, utilization, and maintenance procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
