About The Position

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for their PRN Pool on the Day Shift in St. Petersburg, FL. This role involves direct patient care, including dose preparation and administration for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, performing procedures, processing and enhancing images, and preparing them for physician review. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Must have knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures, and radiation safety.
  • Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR Maintains current certification as an (ARRT) (N) American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Maintains current Florida State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

  • If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may also perform diagnostic CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.
  • If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may also administer contrast as required by guidelines or physician order.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and radiopharmacy functions as required.
  • May perform diagnostic CT imaging if dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT).
  • Exercises professional judgment and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static and functional procedures required by specific studies.
  • Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.
  • Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physician, as required.
  • Performs all computer acquisition, processing, and documentation as required by procedure.
  • Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation as outlined by written procedure or manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required.
  • Maintains records as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.
  • Performs all safety checks as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of radiopharmaceutical and medication administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • May administer contrast if dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT).
  • Prepares radiopharmaceutical doses and calculates exact patient dosages as required by law and maintains records of such.
  • Assists in the administration of therapeutic radioactive materials with an authorized user.
  • Participates in the corporate ALARA Radiation Safety Program.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Participates in Process Improvement activities.
  • May be required to work at any facility.
  • Provides safe patient transport.
  • Handles, disposes, and decontaminates radioactive materials, while maintaining records of such under the regulations of the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all procedural changes and equipment updates.
  • Demonstrates professional judgment and decision-making skills as required; solicits supervisory input as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the patient studies.
  • Responsible for patient and family education of the studies being performed.
  • Participates in ensuring compliance with applicable regulations including but not limited to OSHA, The Joint Commission, FDA, NRC, EPA, and the Florida Department of Health.
