About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join their team on an as-needed basis. This role involves administering nuclear medicine procedures, providing compassionate patient care, and ensuring accurate documentation. The technologist will also participate in charge capture, maintain a clean work area, and contribute to departmental improvements. This position requires adherence to radiation safety principles and proficiency in information systems. The role also emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and compliance with all applicable laws and policies.

Requirements

  • Nuclear Medicine Technology certification or registration with NMTCB or ARRT is required.
  • BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of previous experience in Nuclear Medicine is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability and appropriate technical skills when administering procedures as associated with department policies and procedures and/or as needed by physician/provider. Modality specific: Nuclear Medicine. Functions as a Multi-Skilled Technologist if applicable.
  • Compassionately gives patient care to provide comfort and well-being to the patient acknowledging physiological and psychological needs through policy and procedures governing the department.
  • Prioritizes and performs duties to complete daily assignments in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Completes documentation thoroughly, legibly, and accurately according to department guidelines in a timely manner to ensure compliance of regulatory agencies.
  • Actively participates in charge capture/cost containment activities according to specialty area expectations, including reduction of isotope waste.
  • Ensures that designated work area is clean and stocked with supplies on an ongoing basis. Operates equipment correctly and keeps supervisor informed of any needed repairs.
  • Participates in orientation, education, and self-development, including student training.
  • Searches for better ways of doing things by recommending and/or initiating suggestions for improvement of departmental operations and/or services provided.
  • Works well with others and supports team efforts. Provides quality service to all customers (internal and external).
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsibility in accepting work assignments. Responds positively to changing circumstances.
  • Practices radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles for protection.
  • Shows proficiency in use of the Hospital and Radiology Information System pertaining to job-specific functions.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
