About The Position
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares, calculates, and aseptically administers radioactive tracers to patients; operates PET scanners, PET-CT systems, and gamma cameras; explains procedures and monitors patients; follows radiation safety and radioactive waste procedures; performs equipment quality control and calibrations; and processes scan data and images for physician or radiologist review.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, calculate, and aseptically administer radioactive tracers (isotopes) to patients.
- Operate PET scanners, PET-CT systems, and gamma cameras.
- Explain procedures to patients, address concerns, and answer questions.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Follow radiation protection guidelines and handle radioactive waste disposal.
- Perform daily equipment quality control and calibrations.
- Process scan data, generate standard uptake values, and format images for physician or radiologist review.
