The Nuclear Medicine Technologist, under the general supervision of the Stress Lab Manager, performs routine nuclear cardiology, radiopharmacy, and quality control procedures. They document, obtain, and process images/data, and provide results to physicians. Responsibilities include ordering, assaying, dispensing, and administering radioactive materials. Nuclear medicine is highlighted for its critical insight into the structure and function of major organ systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of JRCNMT-accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • NYS DOH License (L.N.M.T.)
  • ARRT (N) or CNMT certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • IV certification or eligibility

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in relevant field
  • Additional certifications such as PET or NCT

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine procedures
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications for imaging and therapeutic procedures
  • Acquire, process, and evaluate images to ensure technical quality
  • Provide data, images, and documentation to physicians for interpretation
  • Perform radiopharmacy duties including ordering, assaying, dispensing radioactive materials
  • Conduct quality control procedures and maintain equipment calibration
  • Review patient history and ensure exam appropriateness and safety
  • Educate patients regarding procedures and equipment
  • Assist with accreditation processes (e.g., ACR) and departmental workflows
