About The Position

As our Nuclear Med Tech, you will be a specialized healthcare professional, vital in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services through the precise application of radionuclides. Every day, you will expertly perform Nuclear Medicine procedures, utilizing radionuclides to produce high-quality images and data for licensed practitioners. You'll ensure appropriate patient care, recognize conditions essential for successful procedures, administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate equipment, and adhere to strict radiation safety. To be successful in this role you will maintain current certification, advanced technical expertise, and an exceptional eye for detail, coupled with a thorough understanding of radiation safety. Your compassionate patient care and dedication to precise imaging will be essential.

Requirements

  • Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology (RTN).
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Expanded IV Therapy Course (EIV)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: Anatomy and physiology (to include cross sectional when required), medical terminology relating to nuclear medicine, principles of operation and care of nuclear medicine equipment, currently accepted diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public, film processing systems, mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment, and preparation, use and hazards of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Ability to: Perform general and specialized nuclear medicine procedures, which meet the department's standard of quality.
  • Recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions which might arise during the examination process.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all patient care, diagnostic, therapeutic, and quality control procedures as authorized by license under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine physicians.
  • Verification of the proficiency in these areas is measured by achieving a rate of 90%-98% on the annual competency evaluation.
  • Provides the department/hospital staff and physicians with leadership to ensure timely procedure staging and integration, thereby contributing to the achievement of MVBR productivity targets between 95%-102%.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, department and hospital staff demonstrating a high level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Explain procedure and responds to questions and concerns prior to beginning of study. Keeps staff informed of workload progress, difficulties, conflicts, staffing needs and whereabouts. Measured by observation and no more than 1-2 formal complaints per year.
  • Provides technical support for clerks, peers, physicians and supervisor.
