About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to perform imaging procedures that assess organ function and detect abnormalities. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and following radiation safety regulations. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will collaborate with healthcare teams and licensed practitioners to produce high-quality diagnostic images for accurate evaluation and treatment planning.

Requirements

  • Joint Review Committee Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) Nuclear Medicine Program.
  • None
  • General Radiographer licensure in the State of Florida.
  • Any one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist for Nuclear Medicine Technology – ARRT (N) OR Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
  • Ability to report to department within 30 minutes when on call.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, critical thinking skills, and coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently in a stressful work environment and able to respond to life threatening situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Nuclear Medicine experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients using gamma cameras, PET/CT scanners, and other specialized imaging equipment to visualize specific body functions and organs.
  • Maintains a safe environment with the operation of nuclear medicine equipment for customers/patients, coworkers, and self by adhering to nuclear medicine policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Screens patients properly and documents and communicates pertinent and required information pre and post procedure performance.
  • Positions patients for imaging exam using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with department safety procedures and protocols.
  • Produces images consistent with image quality standards and evaluates nuclear medicine exams for technical quality.
  • Properly identifies, prepares and administers medications that are within the Nuclear Medicine Technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Monitors patients during exams, observing for any adverse reactions or complications, and taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Maintains flexibility, adapts to changes in workflow processes and the needs of the Health First organization based upon fluctuations in patient volume.
  • Communicates effectively with customers (patients, LP, other Health First associates, the public, etc.) always using excellent customer relation skills.
  • Follows all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations and adhere to The Joint Commission/ACR standards.
  • Provides orientation and education for new Technologists and assist radiologists in developing new protocols.
