In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment. The PET technologist will follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times, and adhere to rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO. The role involves informing patients about their exams, operating PET equipment to produce images and measure radioactive isotope concentrations, performing hot lab responsibilities, and ensuring patients are cleared of contraindications and hazards. The technologist will accurately position patients, maintain visual and verbal contact, complete all exam-related forms, record patient data, provide films when appropriate, and forward PET-related data to the Radiologist. Refilming cases and assisting clerical staff are also part of the role, along with cleaning and re-supplying equipment and rooms as needed.
