About The Position

In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment. The PET technologist will follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times. They will also follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO. The technologist will inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding, operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products, and perform all hot lab responsibilities. They will ensure the patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards, accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort, and maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam. The technologist will complete all forms pertaining to the patient’s exam, record patient data to the Tech Data Entry program, and provide and issue films when appropriate. They will forward PET related data to the Radiologist upon completion of exam, refilm cases as time allows, and assist clerical staff as circumstances arise. Finally, they will clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Requirements

  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work
  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be proficient in starting IVs.
  • Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

Responsibilities
