About The Position

ReNuke Services is seeking an experienced Nuclear Mechanical Design Engineer SME for our client's site in York, SC. This role involves the design, analysis, modification, and maintenance of nuclear plant mechanical systems, including piping systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, fluid systems, structural supports, and mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, configuration management, equipment operability, system interactions, and applicable industry codes and standards. Familiarity with nuclear plant design basis requirements, engineering programs, and engineering change processes is essential. The role requires the ability to perform engineering evaluations, calculations, equipment troubleshooting, procurement engineering support, and modification design activities. Candidates must be able to read and interpret various plant drawings and technical documents, including flow diagrams, isometrics, piping support drawings, equipment arrangement drawings, vendor documents, and mechanical calculations. The position requires minimal supervision, strong teamwork, self-motivation, flexibility, and personal accountability. Key deliverables include Engineering Change Basedocs, Engineering Evaluations, Mechanical Calculations, Procurement Specifications, Design Inputs, Modification Test Plans, Equipment Database Records, Plant Drawings, Bill of Materials, and supporting design and licensing documentation.

Requirements

• 10 years of experience
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong background in the design, analysis, modification, and maintenance of nuclear plant mechanical systems.
• Experience with piping systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, fluid systems, structural supports, and mechanical equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, configuration management, equipment operability, system interactions, and applicable industry codes and standards.
• Familiarity with nuclear plant design basis requirements, engineering programs, and engineering change processes.
• Ability to perform engineering evaluations, calculations, equipment troubleshooting, procurement engineering support, and modification design activities.
• Ability to read and interpret plant drawings and technical documents, flow diagrams, isometrics, piping support drawings, equipment arrangement drawings, vendor documents, and mechanical calculations.
• Ability to work on assigned projects with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a team, be self-motivated, exercise flexibility, and take personal responsibility for assigned accountabilities.
• Experience performing mechanical system engineering, design engineering, or modification engineering at a commercial nuclear plant.
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards including ASME Section III, Section XI, B31.1, and related nuclear industry requirements.

• Experience with Duke Energy engineering processes and procedures.
• Experience supporting engineering changes involving mechanical systems, equipment replacement, procurement engineering, operability evaluations, and field implementation.
