About The Position
Work alongside experienced professionals to support electrical, instrumentation and controls, and mechanical maintenance functions at a nuclear facility. This role provides exposure to critical plant systems and real-world maintenance practices in a highly regulated environment. This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.
Requirements
- Current student, Junior or higher
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities
- Support electrical, instrument and controls and mechanical maintenance at a nuclear plant.
- Set up a breaker tracking and tool checkout program with QR codes/scanners/PM program.
- Collaborate maintenance feedback into optimizing preventative maintenance performance.
- Analyzing feedback/observation data to identify trends and improve performance.
