Nuclear Intern - Electrical Engineering Millstone
About The Position
Dominion Energy is seeking one Summer 2027 Electrical Engineering intern at Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT. This System Engineering role involves monitoring and support for the major Electrical Distribution and Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems essential for operating a large electrical power generating plant. Control system examples include Main Turbine Controls, Feedwater system controls, and nuclear reactor controls, including control rod drive and digital rod position indication. Electrical distribution encompasses 480VAC, 120VAC, 125VDC, and large oil-cooled power transformers. Activities will include monitoring and trending system performance, equipment inspections, evaluating component performance, system walkdowns, corrective actions, and component troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic electrical theories and principles is required.
- Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid engineering skills, commensurate with grade level.
- Good communication skills, technical writing skills, and computer skills.
- An inquisitive nature, an ability to follow written and verbal directions, and strong professional ethics.
- Must be a student studying Electrical, I&C, Electrical and computer, or Nuclear Engineering with an electrical focus at an ABET accredited engineering program at a 4-year college or university.
- Must have a graduation date of fall 2028 or later.
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired.
- Proficiency in MS Excel with Macros is preferred.
