About The Position

This position can be hired as either a Nuclear Engineer III or Senior Nuclear Engineer depending on experience. The Nuclear Engineer III is the advancing level of the Engineering classification hierarchy, where employees solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision and develop advanced skills to work with greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressing complex and varied. The Senior Nuclear Engineer is the career/senior level of the Engineering classification hierarchy, where employees manage work in engineering areas of specialization with minimal supervision. They develop advanced skills and the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in the use of concepts and procedures, identify problems, develop solutions, and take actions to resolve them. The Senior Engineer represents a level at which a career may stabilize for many years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience
  • The incumbent must meet the minimum ANSI requirements for this position identified within the scope of Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011, Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications
  • 1 year of nuclear power plant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
  • Air Operated Valve experience
  • In addition to desired degree, 6 years related work experience
  • Professional Engineer Certification
  • Heat Exchanger experience
  • Demonstrated application of engineering theories and principles.
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in the utility industry, or similar

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies; completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems.
  • Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures, proficient in technical and analytical competencies.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
