About The Position

Flex is seeking a New Product Introduction (NPI) Process Engineering Co-Op for its Nashua, NH site. This role will support NPI engineering teams in moving new products from prototype to pilot production and eventual transfer to contract manufacturers. The co-op will work with process engineers on various projects, gaining experience in assessing manufacturability, developing assembly processes, creating documentation, and assisting with equipment validation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited university studying Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for the assignment term (Jan - Jun 2027).
  • Strong ethic of initiative and personal ownership of work product.
  • Solutions-oriented attitude when challenges arise.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in SolidWorks (part and assembly creation, 2D drawing creation).
  • Demonstrated capability in technical or creative writing.
  • Experience working within a machine shop.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work full time, on-site, in our Nashua, NH NPI center.

Nice To Haves

  • Structured problem-solving experience (5Why, Ishikawa, RedX).
  • Demonstrated ability to function within a team, with project team experience (FIRST, FormulaSAE, Human Powered Vehicle, DBF, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Assess new medical product designs for manufacturability (DFM) and ease of assembly (DFA).
  • Participate in the build of electro-mechanical assemblies to develop assembly process flows and identify assembly risks.
  • Create detailed assembly process documents for pilot production teams and contract manufacturers.
  • Identify and develop assembly and test tools for product building.
  • Assist in the evaluation of product assembly issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions.
  • Assist in equipment development and validation activities, including designing and executing Design of Experiments (DoEs) to determine operating limits for production-intent processes.
