About The Position

A New Product Introduction (NPI) Process Engineer leads the technical team, making decisions on technology and development methodologies. They ensure that the product is technically feasible and delivered according to specifications. Focuses on the manufacturability of the product, ensuring that it can be produced efficiently, cost-effectively, and at scale.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts on part prints.
  • Adaptability to a changing environment, competing demands, and frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Advanced mathematical abilities including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.
  • Critical thinking and advanced decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to identify different materials and their relationship to design (form, fit, and function).
  • High level of attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping capability.
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and document work instructions, blueprints, routers, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate and assist team members, provide input to the area lead, and attend/participate effectively in meetings.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively, professionally, and constructively.
  • Compliance with and maintenance of 5S and safe work environment practices.
  • Ability to work the necessary hours and adjust schedule accordingly to ensure work is complete on time.
  • Minimum of 3 years in ISO/FDA machine shop, contract manufacturer experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience in a medical device, ISO/FDA, job shop environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new products, including designing processes, selecting materials, and determining methods to meet quality and efficiency goals.
  • Collaborate with product designers and engineers to understand product specifications and design intent, providing input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Oversee the creation of prototypes and pilot runs, analyzing results for process improvement.
  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flowcharts, and quality control procedures.
  • Implement quality control measures and conduct inspections to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Work with quality assurance teams to identify and address quality issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with production planners to develop production schedules and capacity plans, ensuring alignment with demand forecasts.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize production costs without compromising product quality, exploring efficient manufacturing techniques, automation, and alternative methods.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process by analyzing production data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions.
  • Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and best practices, providing ongoing support.
  • Address production issues as they arise, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions, analyzing root causes to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with industry regulations and standards, staying updated on relevant regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, quality assurance, management) to provide updates on the manufacturing process, challenges, and solutions.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
