About The Position

Our site in Colorado Springs, CO - Rockrimmon is seeking an New Product Introduction Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full-time, 6 months in duration. The New Product Introduction Engineering Co-Op will support new product development and manufacturing readiness activities by assisting engineers with documentation, project tracking, data collection and analysis, PFMEA risk reduction efforts, and customer sample builds. This role provides hands-on experience in product development, manufacturing, quality, and process improvement while helping the team improve execution efficiency and meet key project milestones.

Requirements

  • Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, continuous improvement, or project management environments through internships, co-op programs, academic projects, or related work experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and communicate technical data effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June
  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, Quality Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field. Graduating Spring 2027 or later.

Responsibilities

  • Creation, maintenance, and release of manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and qualification reports.
  • Tracking progress of molded components through tooling, sampling, dimensional measurement, and qualification activities.
  • Collection, organization, and analysis of engineering and manufacturing data to support process characterization, capability assessments, and decision making.
  • Support of PFMEA improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve detection methods, reduce occurrence of known failure modes, and maintain accurate risk management documentation.
  • Coordination and execution support for customer sample builds, including material tracking, build readiness verification, documentation, and post-build data collection.
  • Working with operators and assemblers to assess the needs and filling information, equipment, and training gaps.
  • Follow-up on project action items, open risks, and engineering deliverables to improve project visibility and schedule adherence.
  • Assistance with continuous improvement activities, audit preparation, and other engineering tasks that arise as projects advance through development and qualification phases.
