About The Position

As an NPI Engineer at XTEND Tampa, you will serve as the critical technical bridge between R&D and mass production. In an ecosystem that includes a Configuration Manager (focused on PLM/ECO) and a Production Engineer (focused on assembly and jigs), your role is to ensure that engineering designs are mature, high-quality, and scalable. You will focus on hardware optimization, technical vendor management (EMS), and leading complex Transfer to Production (TTP) processes. MBOM/ FCC- Technical evaluation of components

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in engineering/NPI roles supporting multidisciplinary products (hardware, mechanical, and software).
• Strong hands-on experience with electronics manufacturing including PCBAs and complex integrated systems.
• High proficiency reading schematics, CAD models, and complex engineering drawings.
• Experience managing turnkey projects and technical communication with EMS providers.
• Ability to perform systematic root-cause analysis for hardware failures.
• Excellent teamwork and English communication skills for global vendor interface.
• Self-motivated and capable of operating in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with SolidWorks / Visio /OrCAD.
• Familiarity with Priority ERP.
• Experience with Arena PLM.
• Background in drones, robotics, or aerospace systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering and production teams, leading Design Reviews for DFM (Manufacturing), DFA (Assembly), and DFT (Testing).
• Lead NPI activities from prototype phase through mass production, ensuring smooth transition and preventing technical bottlenecks.
• Define Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) features, manage First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, and perform deep-dive Failure Analysis (RCA) on hardware components.
• Maintain continuous technical communication with Contract Manufacturers (EMS) and strategic suppliers, both locally and globally.
• Responsible for technical accuracy of product files, BOMs, and specifications before implementation into the PLM system by the Configuration Manager.
• Support production line bring-up, manage Alpha/Beta builds, and analyze production yields to ensure continuity and scalability.
