About The Position

As an NPD Project Engineer III, you will be responsible for leading small to medium portions of the design process, completing assigned tasks, assisting other team members, and ensuring project completion in accordance with the schedule. You will develop simple schedules and budgets, coordinate and manage low complexity projects. You will lead lessons-learned and CI Kaizen initiatives and implement learnings to improve processes within the organization. You will assist with the completion of the Product Realization Stage Gate Requirements. You will understand and actively manage system level design requirements for Medium Voltage switchgear per specifications and standards. You will design to reduce variation while also promoting error-proof assembly. You will be responsible for the creation of the engineering test plan for areas of design responsibility. You will construct and test prototype components or assemblies as required in the development and approval process. You will be responsible for performing pre-test calculations and reviewing test data in relationship to calculations, standards, and G&W requirements. You will perform engineering analysis in the design of new products and their subcomponents. You will perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on new and existing products. You will prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results, and project activity as required. You will interface with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies. You will provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes. You will give direction to supporting personnel such as Associate Engineers, Designers, and Technicians. You will follow established procedures for the creation and maintenance of CAD databases and libraries. You will participate in the review of engineering drawings prior to release to manufacture. You will be responsible for the final approval of applicable drawings. You will ensure that selected parts and processes meet project and company goals for cost efficiency and reliability. You may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • > 5 years progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development.
  • Experience with 3D parametric modeling.
  • Experience working on highly technical and involved projects.
  • Familiar with new product development Stage Gate Process.
  • Effectively communicate; prepare presentations, update reports and lead project meetings.
  • Technical knowledge in Motor operators, current and voltage sensing, impact of grounding and voltage surges, and power systems.
  • Technical knowledge in Analog and digital circuit board design.
  • Electrical: Able to use soldering iron and appropriate small hand and power tools.
  • Mechanical: Able to use small hand and power tools.
  • Proven experience with computers; Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.
  • Electrical: SPICE software or equivalents.
  • Able to write technical documents, like test reports, engineering standards and technical papers.
  • Able to read and interpret technical standards.
  • Experience with medium/high voltage electrical power systems.
  • Experience with DFMEA.
