As a Mechanical Engineer Intern with JLG you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and skilled Engineers in the industry. In this role you will work on a variety of key projects and initiatives on our Scissor NPD Engineering team, ranging from simple tasks to more complex analytical projects.

Requirements

  • Student working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Nice To Haves

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous internship experience or work-related experience.
  • Previous experience or heightened interest in mechanical design.
  • Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements (SAE teams, etc..)
  • Experience using Creo Parametric, Pro-E, CATIA or a similar CAD system is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principles
  • Knowledge of construction industry and equipment used.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Design, model and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a JLG’s.
  • Research and execute on continuous improvement request (CIR’s) to support manufacturing, supply chain, and customer feedback/operations.
  • Work with global engineering resources to prepare/revise/review vehicle component layouts using CAD (i.e. Creo Parametric)
  • Create and manage ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) using the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.
  • Update bill of materials in the PDM (Product Data Management) system to reflect product changes.
  • Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.
  • Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.
  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.
  • Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.
