About The Position

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a New Product Development / Design to Value (NPD/DTV) Engineer to join their team in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for the development of refrigerated merchandisers and for leading cost reduction efforts on existing product lines through value engineering methodologies. The engineer will manage DTV projects from concept to completion, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and develop innovative solutions for product standardization and modularity. The position requires the ability to develop CAD models, conduct engineering simulations, and validate solutions through customer collaboration, lab testing, and field tests. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Requirements

B.S. in Engineering
1-3 years of experience in design of industrial products

Nice To Haves

Experience with product design and solid modeling in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in refrigeration, air conditioning, dehumidifier, sealed-system, airflow thermal management, or similar, design theory and application.
Experience in practical application of Six Sigma and Lean tools.
MS Mechanical Engineering
Strong track record of NPD and DTV accomplishments.
Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a high degree of product and process complexity.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a matrixed, functional organization with the ability to influence stakeholders in various functional groups.
Innovative mind with ability to generate solutions to customer needs.
Organized with business case analyses and reporting of project status.
Proficient at MCAD modeling of proposed solutions.
Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.

Responsibilities

Apply value engineering methodologies to optimize cost position on existing products.
Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering to implement cost saving projects.
Manage the DTV project from concept to completion, including scheduling and cross functional communication.
Brainstorm new and innovative solutions to achieve the product standardization and modularity.
Develop CAD solid models and engineering simulation of proposed concepts.
Collaborate with Product Management to validate the solution with the customer.
Develop a test plan and work with the Engineering Lab to validate the solution.
Conduct field tests to validate the solution.
Ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrates capability to solve difficult and complex problems.
