About The Position

Join Cook Children’s NEST (NICU Early Support and Care Transition (NEST) Developmental Follow-Up Center), a multidisciplinary program dedicated to supporting NICU graduates and their families from discharge through age five. The APP plays a key role in providing comprehensive developmental follow-up care for premature and medically complex infants, conducting assessments, coordinating care with specialty services, and connecting families with community resources. Working alongside physicians, psychologists, therapists, dietitians, and behavioral health providers, the APP helps ensure early identification of developmental concerns and guides families through interventions that optimize each child’s long-term growth, health, and potential. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide holistic, family-centered care for a high-risk pediatric population.

Requirements

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
• Physician Assistants: Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred.
• Physician Assistants: Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred.
• Current Texas professional registered nurse license (for APRNs).
• Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license (for APRNs).
• Recognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse (for APRNs).
• Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner (for APRNs).
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
• Current Texas professional physician assistant license (for PAs).
• Recognition from the Texas Medical Board as a Physician Assistant (for PAs).
• Certification as a Physician Assistant PA-C required (for PAs).
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred (required when assigned to Anesthesiology, Care Team, Complex Care, Fostering Health, H/O, Nephrology, and Neurology departments).
