About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive care for adult medical patients within a hospital setting. The NP/PA will perform evaluations, admit and manage patients, and offer consultative services. Key responsibilities include coordinating care with specialists, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating closely with attending hospitalist physicians. The position requires adherence to hospital policies and a commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (for NP role)
  • Master of Science in Nursing or higher (for NP role)
  • Basic Life Support certification (obtain within 30 days, offered within)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
  • US Department of Justice DEA Registration (required if prescribing)
  • Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (required if prescribing)
  • Two years’ experience as NP or PA caring for adult medical patients
  • Masters from a program accredited by the ARC-PA (for PA role)
  • Currently licensed as a Physician’s Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (for PA role)

Responsibilities

  • Perform admission evaluations or admit and manage patients at the request of Cape Cod Hospital primary care, ED or Hospitalist physicians.
  • Provide general internal medicine consultative services and treatment for patients in the emergency room that have already been evaluated by an emergency room physician.
  • Coordinate care with appropriate specialty physicians.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of clinical work performed and timely completion of billing encounter sheets.
  • Maintain all necessary certifications and CCH medical staff appointment as an allied health provider.
  • Collaborate closely with the attending hospitalist physician.
  • Communicate effectively and participate actively on the health care team.
  • Comply with CCH Medical Staff Bylaws policies, and Rules and Regulations pertaining to physician extenders, CCH Human Resources policies, and CCH Corporate Compliance Policies.
  • Perform other work-related duties as requested/directed.
  • Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Challenge current working practices, identify process improvement opportunities, and present recommendations and solutions to management.
