About The Position

This position involves functioning in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in a private office setting, primarily caring for medically complex patients. The role requires autonomously performing patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. The NP/PA will support physicians in patient development and maintenance, collaborate with various specialties to ensure continuity of care, and provide office coverage during physician absences. Responsibilities also include prescribing a variety of modalities for wellness and illness needs, including hospital admission/discharge and prescriptive authority, and supervising private office clinical personnel as needed. Requirements

  • For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Current Texas professional registered nurse license.
  • For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license.
  • For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Recognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.
  • For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
  • For Physician Assistants: Current Texas professional physician assistant license.
  • For Physician Assistants: Recognition from the Texas State Medical Board as a Physician Assistant.
  • For Physician Assistants: Certification as a Physician Assistant PA-C required.
  • For Physician Assistants: Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
  • PALS certification is required when assigned to Anesthesiology, Care Team, Complex Care, Fostering Health, H/O, Nephrology, and Neurology departments.

Nice To Haves

  • For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
  • For Physician Assistants: Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred.
  • For Physician Assistants: Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred (unless required for specific departments).

Responsibilities

  • Functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in private office setting for medically complex patients.
  • Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols.
  • Supports physician to develop and maintain patients.
  • Collaborates with specialties and maintains continuity of care.
  • Provides office coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence.
  • Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission/discharge and prescriptive authority.
  • Supervises private office clinical personnel as needed.
