About The Position

This is a full-time position for a GI Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) working within the GI Hospitalist APP department. The role involves collaborating with physicians on inpatient and hospital rounding. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, with a requirement to participate in a call rotation with other providers. The work location is UAB St. Vincent's East in Trussville, Alabama.

Requirements

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) may be accepted in lieu of BLS Provider required.
• Certified Advanced Practice Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Master's degree of Nursing required.

Nice To Haves

• Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.
• Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies.
• Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
• Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
