About The Position

This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with the core values. The employee shall support Saddleback Memorial Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan. Under the directions of the Director of Cardiac Surgery and the Medical Director of Cardiac Surgical Services, the nurse practitioner functions as a member of the multidisciplinary cardiovascular services team using standardize protocols to independently provide examination, evaluation, and recommendation for treatment of patients. Responsibilities include daily rounding and care of patients through performance of clinical duties including but not limited to, consultations, ordering of diagnostic tests, prescribing of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, development of treatment plans to facilitate the continuum of care from admissions to discharge. The nurse practitioner must effectively communicate and document data relevant to the care of the patients. The nurse practitioner collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcome. In addition, the nurse practitioner, using evidenced based guidelines, assists with the development of clinical programs that enhance the delivery of services.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of California required
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program required
  • Current furnishing number or eligible from the California BRN
  • Current DEA registration or eligible
  • Minimum of five years of critical care or cardiovascular nursing experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in similar nurse practitioner / coordinator role
  • Current BLS/ACLS required

Nice To Haves

  • CCRN-American Association of Critical Care Nurse preferred
  • National certification in a nurse practitioner specialty preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
