About The Position
This is a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) position in the Cardiology department, primarily focused on inpatient coverage. The role involves working with Southview Cardiologists and includes weekday and weekend shifts with a call expectation of 1:4 or 1:5 to maintain a full-time schedule. The work location is UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham.
Requirements
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
- Certified Advanced Practice Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Master's degree of Nursing required.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced Life Support certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) may be accepted in lieu of BLS Provider required.
- Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.
- Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies.
- Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
- Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
- Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
- Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
