About The Position

We are seeking a skilled NoSQL Database Engineer with extensive experience in administering Elasticsearch and/or OpenSearch in production environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java and Python, a solid understanding of distributed systems, and experience with cloud platforms like AWS and GCP. This role involves managing clusters, optimizing performance, and utilizing modern development tools and practices.

Requirements

Advanced Java 8
FullStack development experience
Python programming skills
5-10 years of experience in Java and Python
2-5 years of experience with AWS
2-5 years of experience with Elastic Search
2-5 years of experience with OpenSearch
2-5 years of experience with Cloud Native technologies

Nice To Haves

6+ years of hands-on experience administering Elasticsearch and/or OpenSearch in production environments
Strong proficiency in Java and Python, with demonstrated ability to read, debug, and modify existing application code
Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts: sharding, replication, consistency, cluster topology
Experience with AWS services (EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch)
Experience managing clusters on at least one third-party/non-AWS cloud provider (e.g., GCP)
Hands-on experience with REST APIs, Query DSL, and index management (ILM/ISM policies)
Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot, or similar) to improve engineering velocity and code quality
Experience with CI/CD tools and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or similar)
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning skills
Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or similar)
Solid understanding of Git-based version control and code review workflows

Responsibilities

Administer Elasticsearch and/or OpenSearch in production environments.
Debug and modify existing application code using Java and Python.
Manage clusters on AWS and other cloud providers.
Implement and manage REST APIs, Query DSL, and index lifecycle management policies.
Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance engineering velocity and code quality.
Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.
Troubleshoot and tune the performance of NoSQL databases.
Implement and manage monitoring and observability tools.
Utilize Git-based version control and participate in code review workflows.
