About The Position

ICA Language Services is seeking an experienced Norwegian Language Instructor to teach adult professionals. While full-time teaching is the primary focus, candidates with part-time availability are also encouraged to apply due to potential team-teaching or instructor rotation arrangements. In-person instruction at our facility in Rosslyn, VA is preferred, but qualified instructors available for virtual teaching will also be considered. The role requires at least two years of experience teaching the target language to adult students on an intensive basis (4–8 hours a day). The period of performance for this role is from 10/19/2026 to 12/18/2026, with training days from Monday to Friday. The schedule is 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. ET, which includes 6 hours of teaching and 2 hours of preparation.

Requirements

• At least two years of work experience teaching the target language to adult students on an intensive basis (4–8 hours a day).
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field
• Minimum two years of full-time experience teaching adult students
• Experience teaching U.S. military students
• Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered tests
• Knowledge of the ILR scale
• Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment
• Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching, such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx
• Norwegian language proficiency of ILR 4/4 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct Norwegian language classes using a variety of teaching techniques to develop the student’s listening, reading, and speaking skills.
• Administer weekly quizzes and assessments and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of the student’s learning progress.
• Provide monthly written reports of the student’s progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues.
• Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources in teaching to support independent learning.
• Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student’s individual learning style and professional needs.
• For in-person instruction, propose and participate in beyond-the-classroom cultural activities in the school and throughout the DC metro area, such as visits to foreign embassies, cultural centers, restaurants, and other locations that promote cultural learning.
