About The Position

Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a North American Category Manager, Directed Buy & Stainless. This position can be based at any Eaton site within the continental US, preferably in Beachwood, OH, Moon Township PA, Raleigh NC, or Waukesha WI. Remote work will be considered if a candidate is not within a 50-mile radius of an Eaton site. The supply chain management team creates bottom-line impact by driving cost management and operational benefits. Within our supply chain, the N. American Category Manager, Directed Buy & Stainless Steel will support the development and deployment of the global category strategy for Directed Steel set by the Global Category Manager of Flat Steel for the North American region, as well as support the Stainless Steel portfolio for Electrical Americas. In this role, you will drive towards optimal conditions (cost, commercial, quality, delivery, innovation, VAVE) for the category. The N. American Category Manager, Directed Buy & Stainless Steel will be accountable for supplier relationship and performance across the category, supporting supplier negotiations, business reviews, and resolving all supply issues. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Supply Chain or Operations required.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
  • Knowledge of category management and ability to identify technology and economical trends within the Bearigs category
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in successfully deploying category strategies and driving cost-out.
  • Creative thinking skills to produce new approaches in category management and implement emerging tools
  • Superior Data management and analysis capabilities in support of quoting and pricing analysis.
  • Strategic Thinking, Negotiation, Data/Contract Management, Presentation and Influencing Skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Supply Chain related certification (e.g. CPM, CPIM)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Economics from an accredited institution
  • Prior experience as a category manager
  • Prior experience with metals / steel purchasing.
  • 2-4 years’ professional experience with accountability across multiple manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal Eaton stakeholders and external fabrication/stamping vendors.
  • Execute strategic initiatives connected to the flat steel category strategy.
  • Negotiate and manage key strategic supplier contracts and relationships.
  • Ensure compliance of suppliers with Eaton Sustainability programs and Eaton SCM policies.
  • Ensure that a high level of quality and delivery performance is maintained by suppliers and associated partners at all times.
  • Lead supplier business reviews with strategic partners.
  • Ensures that key category metrics (cost out, resiliency, working capital, contracted spend, diversity, etc.) are driven to optimal conditions.
  • Reviews economic and market trends to advise the business on optimal sourcing strategies and any changes to supplier lead times for assigned categories.
