About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Nondestructive Test (NDT) Technician Development Specialist (Experienced or Senior) to join our Quality Organization in St. Louis, Missouri. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping others and enjoys teaching, offering a chance to build and maintain the pipeline of NDT Certified personnel within the BDS Quality Organization. The Development Specialist will lead NDT skill development, collaborate externally to enhance NDT training curriculum, and promote NDT careers by representing Boeing at career fairs and industry conferences. Additionally, there may be a need to provide hands-on NDT surge support for production demands. This position combines technical expertise, talent development, and community engagement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current or previous (last 2 years) Level II NDT certification in Radiography (RT)
  • 5 or more years of experience conducting NDT certification preparation training, providing necessary guidance and/or supervision to Trainees and Level I NDT certified personnel
  • 5 or more years of experience coaching and mentoring less experienced employees
  • 3 or more years experience working with Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Employees will be required to obtain Boeing NDT certification and pass a vision exam.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • More than 10 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level III NDT certification in RT
  • Experience in Computed Tomography (CT) NDT
  • Formalized NDT Training including Level III Certification equivalent to ASNT / NAS410 Standards and/or military equivalent training and experience
  • 7 or more years of formalized NDT Training including Level II Certification in minimum of UT and RT methods equivalent to ASNT / NAS410 Standards and/or military equivalent training and experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in MT, PT, and ET methods equivalent to CP105 / NAS410 Standards and/or military equivalent training and experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach employees on detailed NDT inspection processes, testing techniques, and standards
  • Operate and coach the proper use of NDT test equipment (e.g. C-Scan, A-Scan), and other relevant technologies used in the NDT inspection process
  • Support onboarding and Structured On-the-Job Training (SOJT) for new hires, partnering with NDT Managers and trainers to accelerate team readiness
  • Conduct regular assessments of NDT skill and development capacity health, culture, and effectiveness to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Deliver impactful 1:1 and group coaching sessions on the production floor and in classroom settings
  • Mentor and develop NDT talent to foster continuous learning and professional growth
  • Collaborate with BDS NDT leaders, NDT Level III personnel, and trainers to align development strategies and drive adoption of best practices
  • Drive measurable business impact through improved inspection accuracy, reduced rework, enhanced throughput, and strengthened compliance
  • Collaborate with external technical schools and training providers to help build and enhance NDT curriculum
  • Represent Boeing at local career fairs and industry conferences to promote NDT career opportunities
