About The Position

This is an applicant pool for Noncredit English Associate (Part-time) Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position requires a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, literature, comparative literature, composition, linguistics, speech, creative writing, or journalism; OR bachelor’s degree in Literature and Writing Studies; OR bachelor’s degree in any discipline and twelve semester units of coursework in teaching reading; OR by meeting the minimum qualifications for credit instruction in English, as follows: master’s degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition; OR bachelor’s degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition AND master’s degree in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism; OR a valid appropriate California Community College Credential in the discipline area; OR the equivalent.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
